FROM Rosie and Jack Fillan and Mum, Chris
I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to Mike Tucker (Tempus Fugit) and Alan Seward (Loveknot) for an amazing day on 4th September. The weather was warm and sunny for the morning as we set off from Weir Quay at 10.00.
Jack and Rosie with Mike and Chris unexpectedly with Alan for a...... RACE !! My first year as a cadet and they want me to race a yacht. Are they mad?........ I was thinking as we headed for Cawsand for the start line. Alan’s expert tuition and me just doing as I was told, we got off to a slow start due to a lack of wind but as we neared Saltash the wind picked up and we were off. I can only say, having never done anything like it in my life before it was THRILLING !! Heeling across Plymouth Sound in the sunshine was absolutely brilliant. I was hooked. !
We met up with Tony (Cargreen) and Helen and Andy for lunch on the boats at Cawsand, and a small glass of white to celebrate ones race position. LOL.
The weather changed and we had to return in the rain but it didn’t spoil the day, just added to the experience.......but I wont be wearing jeans next time as I did get a bit chilly .
Thanks to Mike for coping with a very lively Jack on board all day....you should have a medal...and for taking time to teach them new skills. The evening weather improved as we neared home. The sun setting over Weir Quay , a perfect end to a brilliant day ! Thanks again.
